This track comes from Chris Rehm’s newest ambient endeavor, an 8-hour soundtrack to sleep called ‘For a Good Night’s Rest’. Here’s what Rehm has to say about the track.
“This is my second installment in this project. I recorded this yesterday when I was trying to make a score for my friends’ film which called for a much different type of music. This was recorded with an electric guitar and I edited it on my computer to make what you’re hearing now. This number has no romantic story behind it, but it came together simply and pleasantly. “

Chinquapin Mardi Gras Ball – The First Ever Multi-Night Chindig

It is with great pleasure that this Mardi Gras, starting Wednesday February 15th, us along with the help of WTUL New Orleans 91.5 & Black Pearl Music Group will be throwing our fourth Chindig in spirit of the holiday.

Starting at the Circle Bar and then moving to Cafe Prytania, this Chindig will feature three whole nights of good music and great times from us here in the Chinquapin Records family as well as some other locals & touring acts we love.

All shows are only $5 and occur after the parades are finished for the evening.

To celebrate the holiday season, we wanted to share with you guys some tracks that Sun Hotel and Country Club recorded in December 2010 for their second annual Christmas party. Sun Hotel takes on Elvis’s classic ‘Blue Christmas’, Country Club croons over Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas is You’, and all the boys get together for an a cappella version of ‘O Come, O Come Emmanuel’. Skank Family Collective & Chinquapin Records Present: A Holiday Charity Jingler by Various

Skank Family Collective & Chinquapin Records Present: A Holiday Charity Jingler – 13 tracks of winter wonder that will set your hearts aflame. With six songs provided by the Chinquapin Records family and seven by the Skank Family Collective (formerly the Skanky Possum), the jingler forces the listener to question what they thought they knew about the holidays. Enter a new dimension of the “spirit” with us and be merry! All proceeds go to Austin Area Toys for Tots and to prevent hunger and homelessness in New Orleans via NOAAHH.

Chinquapin Records’ contribution to the jingler was engineered entirely by champion-man Ross Farbe except for Caddywhompus’ and Chris Rehm’s tracks (engineered by Chris Rehm). Sun Hotel, Country Club, and Chris Rehm wrote original songs. Habitat, Native America, and Caddywhompus performed variations on holiday standards.

Skank Family Collective’s contribution was self-recorded by The Sour Notes, Shakey Graves, Milezo, Little Lo and the remainder was engineered by Evan Kaspar and Riley Burgess. MarryAnn & The Revival Band, Greg Mullen and Cole Wilson wrote original songs. The Sour Notes, Shakey Graves, Milezo, and Little Lo performed variations on standard holiday jamz. Special thanks to Amarah Ulghani, Jen Rachid, Jono Foley and Talib Abdullahi.

You’ve been bad this year… Really bad. You know all those sick presents you wanted!? That vintage monophonic keyboard?? That Morrissey live at the Shrine auditorium box set?! Things aren’t lookin good. Nevertheless, the Christmas angels of old are providing you with a chance to get back into Santa’s good graces.

Chinquapin Records and Austin’s Skank Family Collective are releasing our first ever HOLIDAY CHARITY JINGLER. Chinquapin and Skanky Possum have united to create a Christmas compilation of epic proportions: thirteen tracks of classic Christmas songs and some original holiday jingles to boot! It’s what the kids are into.

On December 9th beginning at 9pm at Café Prytania, fine spirits will be drank, gifts will be gifted, and festive merriment will ensue at the CHINDIG 03: A HOLIDAY SOCIAL. Jolly live music will be provided by local friends Sun hotel and Country Club. And not to worry friends, attend this jovial gathering in good conscience: all proceeds from the event and the compilation go to Toys for Tots in Bastrop, TX and to help fight hunger and homelessness in New Orleans via NOAAHH. Your Chinquapin buddies will provide gifts to all such as pictures with Cooper Claus, Chinquapin Records Holiday Scarves, and enough beer to get Santa an FWI (flying while intoxicated).
